Have been working in design, development and production/ testing of clean energy materials/Solar cells/ modules/ storage/ systems etc. since his Ph.D. days at IIT Roorkee, at BHEL Electronics Division, Bangalore and as founder member of a greenfield project -MNRE/ BHEL amorphous silicon solar cell Pilot plant at Gwalpahari, Gurgaon leading to 8 patents, > 30 research publications etc.
Also, underwent foreign training in PV cells / modules fab at USA & process equipment inspection to Shanghai, China and under World Bank SPV market development program executed by Siemens Solar Inc., underwent extensive three stage training in India and finally to the USA for studying large PV installations like PVUSA, California, NREL, FSEC, Sandia Lab etc.
Also, after superannuation from BHEL, served as Professor and HOD of Energy & Environment Dept., at TERI University offering M. Tech (RE Engg. & Management) course and Adv PG Diploma in RE through distance Education program.
During this tenure, additionally served as Domain expert in the PM Awards committee constituted by DOPT GoI, formed for awarding outstanding work done by Civil servants (in this case Gujarat SEB, Chief Secretary, Gujarat)
Member of CTCN, UNIDO, Vienna for providing guidelines for establishing the Solar cell industry in Iran.
Served as Member of various Expert Technical Committees of MNRE, DST, NRDC, NPL, NISE etc. Serving as Reviewer of Publications submitted to Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells- An Elsevier Journal.
Sudhanshu Pant
- A Project Management individual during most of his career.
- Vice President & HOD Projects in Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), a premier City Gas Distribution (CGD) entity in India.
- Was one of the key persons, in the leadership team in IGL, for their endeavor in establishing a robust infrastructure for distributing Natural Gas:
- Steel Pipelines over 1,200 Kms.
- MDPE Pipelines over 15,000Kms.
- More than 550 CNG stations.
- Catered to more than 2 million NGVs; over 1.6 million domestic PNG users; over 3,500 commercial PNG users and around 3000 Industrial PNG users.
- Headed ERP & IT department, to make IGL, a tech-savvy company so that service delivery to the huge base of PNG and CNG users can be improved, leveraging digital technologies, benefitting immensely in the pandemic times.
- Worked in Tractors India Limited (TIL), a dealer of Caterpillar, the USA in Power Systems Group projects; Executed four captive power project assignments.
- Started career with Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) after graduation in 1983, till Jul. 1999. Had experience in project management in core sector EPC projects. A few assignments handled were;
- Project Manager for Continuous Slab Casting Plant at SAIL, Bokaro Steel Plant,
- Project Manager for Lead Zinc Smelter Complex for HZL, Chanderia, Rajasthan along with Imperial Smelting Processes Ltd., the U.K. as a Greenfield project.
- Project Manager for Wagon Tippler Complex, at Kothagudem Thermal Power Station along with S & H, U.K.
- Project Engineer for Light and Medium Merchant Mill on the designs of SMS, Germany for Vishakhapatnam Steel Plant, Vishakhapatnam, A.P.
- Project Engineer for site construction and erection of Reactors in RIL Jamnagar refinery.
- Project Engineer for Variable Throat Armour, TISCO (2 nos.) and BSP (1 no.)
- Exposure with international collaborators, technology partners & equipment suppliers viz. GI&E, Italy; Compac, NZL, Delta Compression, Argentina; Endurance, China; Caterpillar, USA; Strachan & Henshaw, ISP, and DMS, UK; SMS & GHH, Germany; VAI, Austria, etc.
